Q and A - Junior Bulldogs

Diamond Sports is excited to introduce our Junior Bulldogs Summer Teams, designed for players who want more baseball after Little League in a fun, structured, and competitive environment.

This program is a great introduction to select baseball, giving players the opportunity to develop their skills, compete in tournaments, and experience team baseball, without a full year commitment.

Who is this program for?

Junior Bulldogs is designed for 8U and 9U players who:

  • Are not currently on a select team
  • Have playing experience (Little League or similar)
  • Want more baseball in June and July
  • Are ready for a more structured team environment

How many teams will you have?

We will have up to two teams:

8U & 9U or a combined 8/9 team depending on turnout.

Each team will carry 13 players.

What is the cost? What’s included?

The cost for the summer is $650, which includes:

  • Game hat + uniform top
  • 4 tournaments (all local)
  • 4 practices with Diamond Sports training staff

What does the schedule look like?

  • Season: Two tournaments in June and two tournaments in July
  • Practices: Up to 2 per week (weekdays only)
  • Tournaments/Games: Weekends only

We intentionally schedule around the end of Little League so players can finish their current season.

Where are practices and games held?

  • Practices: Indoor at Diamond Sports
  • Tournaments: Local (no travel required)

Who will be coaching the team?

Teams will be led by Coach Travis Hislop, with support from Diamond Sports training staff throughout the season.

What kind of environment can we expect?

Our focus is on:

  • Positive, competitive environment
  • Player development and confidence
  • Learning how to play the game the right way

This is a great first step into select baseball without jumping into a full-year commitment.

Is there a tryout?

Yes — we will hold a tryout in May.

This is a selection-based team, and not all players will be placed.

We are looking for players who show:

  • Solid fundamentals
  • Effort and coachability
  • A positive attitude

What happens if my player doesn’t make the team?

We will continue to offer training opportunities at Diamond Sports and encourage players to stay connected for future programs.

What’s next after Junior Bulldogs?

Junior Bulldogs players will have first opportunity to fill future roster spots on our teams after the summer is over.

Why Junior Bulldogs?

  • Great bridge from Little League to select baseball
  • Structured practices + real tournament play
  • Local schedule with no travel
  • Led by experienced coaches and staff
  • Positive environment focused on growth and confidence

When are tryouts?

Tryouts will take place in May.

Exact dates and times will be announced soon.
